Sara y Rene Viticultors Priorato Tinto Partida Pedrer 2021 750ml

The 2021 Partida Pedrer Negre was produced with 100% full clusters and fermented with dry carbonic maceration; they extract the juice every day, and then it was pressed after 10 to 12 days and then fermented in the tank and then matured in amphorae of very thick material (gres) for 16 months. It has a bright ruby color a nose of herbs, wild berries, plants and flowers, like a field in spring. It’s a little reductive—the process and also the character of the year—with an ethereal structure, direct, straight and fresh, with a faint earthy character. It has 14% alcohol, pure Garnacha from the grapes with less ripeness from the vineyard (and even so, it’s 1% higher in alcohol than the rosé that is the blend of grapes where the Monastrell lowers the alcohol). It’s fine-boned and very different from the rest of the reds from Priorat. 1,540 bottles produced.

Grenache

The purple skinned grapes of the Grenache varietal have quickly become one of the most widely planted red wine grapes in the world, flourishing in several countries which have the correct conditions in which they can grow to ripeness. They thrive anywhere with a dry, hot climate, such as that found in central Spain and other such arid areas, and produce delightfully light bodied wines full of spicy flavors and notes of dark berries. Their robustness and relative vigor has led them being a favorite grape varietal for wineries all over the world, and whilst it isn’t uncommon to see bottles made from this varietal alone, they are also regularly used as a blending grape due to their high sugar content and ability to produce wines containing a relatively high level of alcohol.
