Queen Bee Viognier 2025

With its full body, heady fruit flavors and bright floral aromas, Viognier is one of the most satisfying whites we know. Winemaker Michael Dawson’s Queen Bee exemplifies all these qualities (and then some), proving the grape really shines in South Africa’s Stellenbosch area.

He crafts the wine at the renowned Journey’s End estate, a sustainably-focused operation—and The Drinks Business 2021 Ethical Company of the Year—seated in the Schapenberg hills. It’s meant to be a love letter to the Cape Honey Bee (hence the label), an essential ‘helper’ to the ecosystem that’s only found in the Western and Southern Capes.

After tasting the 2020 release, top critic Fiona Beckett marveled at its “seductive peaches-and-cream character.” This edition is every bit as delectable, with similar peach tones complemented by nectarine, apricot and tropical fruit flavors all rounded by a distinct note of honeysuckle.
