Tommasi has been making sparkling wine for 20 years, but they bought a hilly 37-acre vineyard just for this Prosecco and it’s a stunner. Since its debut in April 2012, it’s been popping up on the wine lists of several high-profile restaurants around the country, but it has never hit store shelves. 

The Tommasi family has been producing high-quality Amarone for four generations. Along the way, they have acquired 234 acres in the Valpolicella Classico region—nobody else owns more. When the Tommasis decided to make a proper Prosecco, they sought and found a vineyard that met their strict criteria for quality: Tenuta Filodora, a 37-acre hillside plot with vines averaging 35 years old, in one of the DOCG Prosecco region’s most desirable slices of terroir. 

Tenuta Filodora’s stingy vines produce much lower yields than what the region allows. The Glera grapes that do emerge show off the region’s combination of elevation, well-draining stony soil, and Adriatic-influenced breezes. The resulting powerful punches of intense fruit and vibrant acidity make the Tommasi Tenuta Filodora Prosecco an absolute stunner.
