Developed in the mid-19th century by Ephraim Wales Bull in Concord, Massachusetts, this hardy grape thrives in cool climates, particularly in the Northeastern United States and the Great Lakes region.

What makes Concord unique is its distinctive “foxy” aroma and intense grapey flavor, which differs significantly from European Vitis vinifera varieties. It produces wines with deep purple hues, bold fruitiness, and natural sweetness, often with notes of candied grape, plum, and jam. Concord’s high acidity and strong aromatics make it a popular choice for sweet and semi-sweet wines, though some dry styles exist.
