The 2005 San Leonardo is a big, strapping wine bursting with dark fruit, cassis, black cherries, leather and licorice. The wine possesses tons of fruit, but the tannins, though polished, will require some time to soften. This is a commendable effort that should improve with further bottle age. San Leonardo is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot that was aged first in large casks and then smaller French oak barrels for roughly 30 months. (Vinous)
