This exciting discovery comes courtesy of the talented Thierry Ferlay, winemaker at a dynamic cellar specializing in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as well as exceptional-value Rhône reds. His wines win gold medals year-in, year-out – and this beauty from the slopes of majestic Mont Ventoux (aka the ‘Giant of Provence’) is no exception. Ventoux lies just 30 miles from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and is home to some of France’s oldest vineyards. It shares similar limestone- and mineral-rich soils, along with flavor-boosting galets roulés. These ‘pudding stones’ trap heat during the day and radiate it back to the vines at night, helping to ensure perfectly ripe grapes. In Ventoux, the famous Mistral wind can blow at up to 200 miles per hour, keeping the vineyards cool and pest-free. The high altitude and bright sun also provide the perfect foundation for grape growing.

Domaine de Ju is a classic blend of Syrah (50%), Grenache (30%), and Carignan (20%) that ripples with red summer fruit flavors (ripe cherries and raspberry) plus touches of warming spice, supported by fine, silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. It will be a great match for Mediterranean dishes (think olive oil, garlic, eggplant, thyme, and more), hearty stews, and cheese platters.
