Crafted by renowned winemaker Doug Roosevelt, Barrel Notes Reserve hails from the cool Santa Maria Valley. Lying within the counties of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, the valley has a rare east-west orientation, which allows sea breezes and fog from the Pacific Ocean to blanket the vineyards. These cool conditions, combined with the naturally lengthy growing season, give the Chardonnay grapes more time to develop fuller, complex flavors.

After selecting the best parcels – of which there were plenty, thanks to the superb 2017 vintage – Doug fermented the Chardonnay in French oak barrels. This imparted a smooth, creamy texture and toasty, vanilla-spice notes to the wine’s ripe, orchard-fruit flavors.
