It doesn’t get more Chablisienne than J. Moreau’s Gloire de Chablis.
Made by one of Burgundy’s oldest and most revered names, the Gloire is the product of Moreau’s 200 years of winemaking wisdom and Chablis’ famed terroir. It’s packed with minerality, bright citrus, and green apples—and comes at a price that makes it one of the best deals in the category.
That’s why Moreau’s Chablis has been one of our bestselling bottles of white Burgundy every year since we started offering it. Since then, our members have left scores of four- and five-star reviews, calling Moreau “exactly what I look for in a Chablis,” and “a favorite in our house…what I want from Chablis.”
The 2021 version is the latest in a string of classics, hailing from an old-school year that produced gloriously flinty wines…and tiny yields. In fact, Burgundy-based William Kelley of Wine Advocate warned that the low quantities “will only further enflame an already over-heated wine market.”
J. Moreau & Fils was founded in 1814 as a wine-merchant trading firm. Over time, the domaine acquired several Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, establishing itself as one of the most important producers in Chablis.
A cuvée from some of the region’s finest vineyards, the Gloire is bright and celebratory, a golden-tinged beauty that shows off the winery’s mastery in blending diverse Chablis terroirs into a harmonious whole.
Named for the relics of Saint-Martin, the wine serves up classic Chablis in all its signature bright fruit and crushed-limestone minerality. Eight months after fermentation, it’s bottled and shipped straight to us, with perfect provenance. All you need now is a platter of poached shrimp, some goat cheese salad, and good company.
