Perched dramatically on a windswept hilltop just five miles from the Pacific Ocean, Goldrock Ridge Vineyard stands as a rare jewel in the rugged terrain of northwest Sonoma County’s true Sonoma Coast. This coveted 42-acre property, soaring 550 feet above sea level near the village of Annapolis, encompasses just 38 acres of pristine Pinot Noir. 

The vineyard’s remote location and challenging landscape, combined with strict environmental restrictions and limited water resources, make it an extraordinary find in a region where new vineyard development is nearly impossible. As a result, land prices here can easily reach north of $200,000 per acre. From a plot of this caliber, deals like this are practically unheard-of.

Crafted by veteran winemaker Vance Rose, this dusty brick-red Pinot unfolds the richness and elegance of Sonoma’s spectacular 2018 vintage with every sip. “I have never tasted so many complex, elegant, yet also deep, textured, and layered Pinot Noirs from Sonoma as in 2018,” wrote Jeb Dunnuck in a glowing vintage report that bears reading in full.

With this wine, you get the coiled, cool-climate vibrancy, rendering notes of sugar plum and black cherry in fine detail. Thanks to the generosity of the vintage, that detail is delivered in a big, velvety package, wrapped in gentle tannins softened by age.
