2016 The Mascot Red Wine Napa Valley

Just over a decade ago, Will Harlan scored a few barrels of Cabernet from the younger vines at his family’s incomparable estates. He blended a wine to share with his friends, packaging some of the most precious Cabernet in Napa Valley in nondescript bottles. 

Finally, in 2008, Will’s wine eked its way outside his inner circle. The Mascot was officially born, and it soon took its place as one of the greats. It is the only wine in the world that can claim to be made by the teams behind three of Napa Valley’s most legendary Cabernets—BOND, Harlan Estate, and Promontory—and that pedigree shows in every sip.

In 2016, one of the greatest Napa Valley vintages of all time, that incomparable talent and terroir combined to produce one of the greatest Mascot bottlings ever—one we’re thrilled to have straight from the winery cellars. It’s one of the most impeccably-sourced and -crafted wines in Napa Valley, and we’re extremely fortunate to have a share.

A sip of Cabernet expressing any one of The Mascot’s sources can rightly be described as the wine experience of a lifetime, and the 2016 is a hedonistic masterpiece. It’s bursting with aromas of red cherry and blackberry preserves wrapped in tobacco and mocha. Broad and complete on the palate, it’s got rich red and black fruit laced with graphite and riding on graceful tannins that resolve in a long, joyful finish. It’s a magical Cabernet that won us from the start.
