2016 Favia Cerro Sur Red Wine Napa Valley

Antonio Galloni of Vinous called the 2016 Cerro Sur “an extraordinarily beautiful, stunning wine of real pedigree. I loved it.” It consists of 78% Cabernet Franc grown at Rancho Chimiles perched high in the mountains east of Coombsville, where the 40-year-old vines produce intense yet gorgeously fresh and focused fruit. 

Rounded out by 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in 50% new French oak for nearly two years, Cerro Sur is a deep purple-black in color, with complex aromas of cassis, blackberry, violet, pencil lead, and pipe tobacco, with high-density black fruit and sweet spices blending seamlessly into the muscular full body. With a super-long finish and brilliant balance between richness, freshness, complexity, and weight, it’s got a long and glorious future ahead of it.
