Our Theory: This Red Won’t Last

Last month, we offered a 98-point Double Gold Medal red from Anarchist Wine Co. called The Philosopher and Wine Access members bought every bottle we had in record time. The only thing left to do was call the winery, which we did, and we’re writing to you with great news! We’ve ot the latest blend from Anarchist—the juicy, over-the-top Orin Swift rival 2014 Conspiracy Theory—before anyone else in America.

If you locked into bottles of The Philosopher, this makes a natural addition to your stash. Bright ruby, with black fruit wrapped around a powerful juicy core, finishing with super-smooth, velvety tannins, Conspiracy Theory is what wine lovers think of when they think “California Red.”

The blend behind Conspiracy Theory reads like a science experiment gone terribly right: The unconventional combination is dominated by Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache accented with Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, which lead to a versatile and multi-layered wine with robust flavors of black cherry, raspberry, cocoa, and baking spices that’s full-bodied and intense, avant-garde yet absolutely delicious. 

The Anarchist Wine Co. works out of a space just south of downtown Napa, which acts as a test kitchen for unorthodox blends and innovative winemaking. Now softened by a few years in the bottle, Conspiracy Theory packs all the fruit of a robust red blend with a texture even silkier than the ones associated with California’s big-name reds.
