Considered one of the greatest Chardonnays in the world and Australia’s finest white wine for thirty years, the “Art Series” is a regular on Wine Spectator’s Top 100.  The 2013 earned a world-beating 96 points from Wine Spectator, while Australian wine guru James Halliday upped the ante dropping a phenomenal 98 points.  We beat all others to secure the last few bottles in the country, but they are sure to disappear in a flash into clients cellars, never to be seen again.

The near-perfect ratings and glowing accolades are nothing new for Leeuwin. It’s been happening since 1980, when Decanter’s enthusiastic review of the “Art Series” pinned the estate to the wine world’s map. The 2013 growing season began cooler than usual but standard climatic patterns returned in January and February — Australia’s summertime. Warm to hot temperatures during the day pushed physiological maturity. Cool nights preserved acidity and kept pH levels in check. A dry, ocean wind-aided February created ideal conditions for turning out soft, vibrant whites.
