Many factors contribute to Dalla Valle’s status: their legendary hillside blocks just east of the Silverado Trail, their meticulous attention to detail both in the vineyard and in the winery, and the revered winemaking skills of Andy Erickson. Robert Parker himself said, “Naoko Dalla Valle has hit pay-dirt again with her 2013s, which rival the 2012s,” before waxing poetic about this release not once, but twice.

But critical praise, and upper echelon viticulture and winemaking aren’t all that’s special about this release. The secret behind these bottles is their aging. After a wine is bottled, proper storage becomes more and more important with every passing day, as it’s absolutely crucial to the graceful aging of the wine. 

Unlike other retailers, our cases of Dalla Valle have been resting in place, in the heart of the Dalla Valle cellars, since their original bottling date.

Maya Dalla Valle herself gave us this library release of her 2013 Oakville Cabernet, which is now six years past harvest and has spent every one of its days untouched in Dalla Valle’s cool cellar.
