Parker 95+ Point Brunello is “One of the year’s Best”

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate said it best: “Il Poggione is a Brunello superstar and a vintage like this reveals every reason why that affirmation is true. From the second the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino pours into the glass, you know you are in for something special.” The Advocate then dropped 95-points and a few more choice words, calling the 2012 Il Poggione “one of the year’s best Brunellos.” And what a year it was — James Suckling called 2012 a “rockstar vintage.” Boasting loads of perfumed, elegant fruit up front, and a powerful structure which will allow decades of evolution, the 2012 Il Poggione Brunello is a must-buy for serious collectors. $75 elsewhere. Just $59.99 — 20% off — today, while 20 cases last.

The 2012 vintage in Tuscany was one for the record books, displaying, as Wine Enthusiast wrote, “more consistent quality across the denomination than even the highly acclaimed 2010s.” The summer was hot and dry, without the extreme heat spikes of 2011, and at historic Il Poggione, the team capitalized on the abundant Mediterranean sunshine, practicing extreme canopy management, spending meticulous hours in the vineyards, hand-shaping each plant, and making sure to protect clusters from the scorching Tuscan sun. Like many producers, they harvested slightly early to preserve elegance and acidity in the wine.

The result, was a stunning translation of terroir into bottle, showing “dark density and succulent fruit flavors that are followed by integrated spice and tobacco.” As The Advocate continued, “this is a healthy, generous, and exuberant Brunello.”

Don’t miss out.
