The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a seriously compelling bouquet: beautifully defined, effortless and refined, featuring black rather than red fruit, crushed stone and discreet undergrowth aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin. There is a stern backbone to this Bonnes-Mares, which is stricter than many of its peers, the blue fruit clearly rationed, but with impressive persistence on the finish.
