Born in Italy and raised Down Under, Sam is now one of Australia’s most awarded winemakers, fittingly nicknamed “Mr. Medals.” He’s proudly made wine on his own since 1986, a year represented by the Roman numerals on this acclaimed debut. It hails from Riverina, in southeastern Australia’s Big Rivers region—an area where viticulture thrives thanks to the life-giving Lachlan and Murrumbidgee Rivers. Without them, the hot, dry climate and low rainfall would make grape growing nearly impossible.

Here’s a word from Sam: “This wine is my tribute to those who first supported and believed in me as a young Italian living Down Under, making wines that were a reflection of this—traditionally Italian with an Aussie twist. Those who gave me a chance seemed to like them, and the rest is history. My blend of Shiraz, Durif and Grenache has a deep red color with purple hues, a combination of raspberry and cinnamon aromas with blackberry and redcurrant flavors, backing up with a well-weighted fullness and richness.”
