Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s signature red grape, and much of it once thrived around the small hilltop village of Poggioreale. Dino grew up there, watching his grandfather tend to ancient vines with care and pride. But in 1968, a devastating earthquake struck, forcing residents to flee and leaving the vineyards abandoned. Years later, determined to revive his family’s legacy, Dino loving restored the vines. All he needed was the right partner to help him share his work—and that’s where we came in.

For this Riserva, Dino aimed to push fruit richness even further than in his original, highly acclaimed Tenuta Fenice. Made from ancient, low-yielding Nero d’Avola vines, it delivers exceptional flavor concentration.

A portion of the wine was aged in oak barrels for 12 months. The result? A richly warming red with layers upon layers of plum and sour cherry, delicate hints of strawberry and blackberry, and subtle notes of sweet spice. Its deeply intense flavors are balanced beautifully by the elegance and roundness of oak aging.
