When winemaker José Neiva first made Portugal’s original 100% Alicante Bouschet, his friends called him aluado (“loony” or “moonstruck”). You see, this dark-colored grape has been used historically to add color and depth to blends…and was rarely bottled on its own. This Reserva is the deluxe edition, aged in new oak barriques for richness and complexity.
