When Forbes asked about his 2012, “Is This America’s Best Red Wine?” — we wondered the same.

We’ve been following the career of Andrew Will’s Chris Camarda since his early days as Washington State’s original garagiste in the 1980s. Critics found his full-bodied Bordeaux blends captivating, Right Bank lookalikes packed with gorgeous fruit and sturdy tannins allowing for decade-plus cellaring. The 2012 Andrew Will Two Blondes Vineyard Red is a classic blend bursting at the seams with New World opulence. “They have everything; texture, richness, balance and structure,” said the Wine Advocate. We agree.

This is Camarda’s only estate wine, crafted from a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc grown on his own perfectly manicured Two Blondes Vineyard in the storied Yakima Valley. Camarda’s peers consider him something of a genius at matching clonal selections with the best sites, the result of years of experimentation with Washington terroir. In 2012, one of the greatest Washington vintages in the last 15 years, his Two Vines Vineyard pushed ripeness to the hilt, with the cool site — featuring clay soils layered on top of basalt bedrock — offering ideal conditions for producing rich expressions.
