Grivot’s parcel in the Échezeaux Grand Cru is located at the southern end, in the climat of Les Cruots. With its lifted floral note and anchored damp earth element, the 2017 boasts incredible complexity on both sides of its ripe dark cherry and blackberry core. It shows fantastic balance right from the beginning, and adds more and more complexity the longer it’s open—as Vinous said, its bouquet “features a mixture of red and black fruit and seems to grow in the glass.” A gorgeous example of precision and harmony from this legendary Grand Cru.
