His 2019 Hyland Single Vineyard Old Vine Pinot is one of his best values. It packs pedigree, richness, and depth that typically command around double the price—exactly why our members have said, “Hyland never disappoints.” 

We can’t help but agree. During our last visit to Hyland’s cellars, we meandered from barrel to barrel, soaking up the oak-and-Pinot aromatics and following Laurent—until he looked back and realized he’d lost us. We were still lingering around a barrel of this 2019. 

After the last vintage sparked an eruption of member adoration, this wine—from a year that Oregon winemakers are heralding as a classic—had us intrigued. It’s 100% estate-grown on one of Oregon’s oldest and most acclaimed vineyards, a site that has supplied stars like Beaux Frères, Antica Terra, and Bergström. 

Hyland is one of Oregon’s most important vineyards. At the 1985 Burgundy Challenge in Paris, Hyland led the way in a blind tasting competition that saw panelists unable to differentiate between the Pinot Noirs from Oregon and Burgundy. To the astonishment of the wine world, three Oregon wines garnered higher point totals than the Burgundies. Their common denominator? They all sourced fruit from Hyland.

Laurent acquired the vineyard in 2007, and since then it’s been integral to his overdelivering Pinots. Many of Hyland’s Pinot Noir vines are now 50 years old, which gives this wine the gorgeous concentration that we know will please your palate every time you take a sip.
