Eduardo Torres Acosta Terre Siciliane Rosso “Quota N” IGT 2024 750ml

50% Nerello Mascalese/30% Grenache/20% Grecanico-Carricante-Coda di Volpe. “Quota N” comes from a half-hectare parcel of ungrafted (hence piedi franco on label), mixed-variety alberello vines in the contrada of Nave on the north face of Mt. Etna. Restoring this neglected plot of fragile, 80-100-year-old bushes has been a labor of love. The farming is now fully organic. The vineyard lies high up at 1070 meters and features very rocky, sandy volcanic soils.

The bunches are hand-harvested, vinified as a mix of whole clusters and destemmed berries, co-fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and without sulfur or temperature control in concrete tank. Maceration lasts around 15 days. The wine is aged for 9 months in concrete tank with minimal racking. It is bottled without fining or filtration and with a tiny amount of sulfur. Its “Quota N” name is a reference to both the nearby road, the Strada Quota Nave, and the contrada Nave itself.
